History of the campus

Since it was established in 1978, the Sogeval laboratory has evolved over the years to become a campus of the pharmaceutical unit of the Ceva Santé Animale group.

1978 :

A merger between the company Thespos, a subsidiary of the Sanders group, and Sepval, the veterinary division of the Pierre Fabre group, leads to the creation of Laboratoire Sogeval S.A.

The SOGEVAL brand, dedicated to animal production, adopts the slogan “Hygiene in action”.

1986 :

Sepval demonstrates its talents as a creator of tablets and palatability products with the launch of Pet-Phos, a mineral and vitamin supplement for dogs. The launch of this product would prove to be a major turning point for the brand.

1987 :

Sepval files a European patent for Délicament Félin (palatability drugs). In the mid-1990s, it builds on the success of PetPhos to launch a range of palatability drugs. The next few years are devoted to launching new product lines, in areas such as dermatology and dentistry, with the release of Prozym and Douxo.

In parallel, the Sepval brand, dedicated to companion animals, becomes the first laboratory to market drugs specifically formulated for cats.

1993 :

Restructuring of the Laval production plant enables the laboratory to benefit from a site fully in line with European pharmaceutical standards, and in complete compliance with good manufacturing practices.

1998 :

Sogeval becomes the Animal Health subsidiary of the Glon group.

2002 :

Sogeval acquires a second production site in Louverné. This investment enables it to specialise in its manufacturing sites.

2003 :

Animal health branch launches Pracetam, the first European paracetamol for pigs.

The Research and Development department moves into the Technopole technology park at Laval, on a technical and regulatory platform of 750 m2.

2005 :

The Sepval brand takes the name of the parent company and becomes SOGEVAL.

International launch of the Délicaments range.             

2006 :

SOGEVAL establishes itself in the USA, founding its first subsidiary.

SOGEVAL becomes the French market leader in oral antibiotic therapy for cats and dogs.

2007 :

Sofiprotéolacquires a 60% share in the Glon group. 

2008 :

Sogeval US (the American subsidiary) continues its growth with the acquisition of Vitality Systems, a major player in the area of nutritional supplements for companion animals.

2009 :

The Companion Animals Division invests in new therapeutic areas: cardionephrology and pain management. The Dermatology range undergoes further development. A new oral hygiene range is created.

Sogeval strengthens its industrial capacity with the construction of a new production site dedicated to manufacturing tablets

2010 :

The Animal Production Division launches two new forms of Pracetam in Europe: Pracetam Oral Powder and Pracetam Solution.

2011 :

Opening of a subsidiary in Denmark.

2012 :

The laboratory invests in a new site on the outskirts of Laval (Louverné) dedicated to the production of medicinal premixes and oral powders.

2013 :

Acquisition of a new subsidiary in the UK. Acquisition of SOGEVAL by the Ceva Santé

Animale group in December 2013.

2014 :

SOGEVAL becomes a campus of the Ceva Santé Animale group’s pharmaceutical unit. 

Construction and fit-out of a new manufacturing unit exclusively dedicated to premixes (drugs and additives) and oral powders.

The campus also obtains a new 5000 m² logistics platform with 5400 pallet positions.
